February happens to be the month of love. It also happens to be the month that we will be releasing our very first film, Kitty Kill, online. Yes, that is correct; you will be able to view this dark tale of love gone horribly wrong. We are only doing this because we love you.
It has been said that love may be understood as part of the survival instinct, a function to keep human beings together against menaces. But what if those ‘menaces’ come from within the love itself? The diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.
Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.
KiTTY KiLL is a film that sets viewers on a journey through the minds of a man and woman trapped in a dehumanising game of possession and nostalgia. The film is also saturated in personal symbolism and dark imagery, which we believe may be interpreted in many ways. But, as with many BlackMilk films, KiTTY KiLL is about love.
KiTTY KiLL will go live on our YouTube and Vimeo channels on Monday, 20 February 2012.
