The BlackMilk Productions Logo
BlackMilk Productions – Motion Logo from BlackMilk Productions on Vimeo.
The new motion logo will appear at the beginning of all our films. The visual elements were captured by Leon Visser (Regression Cinematographer) and Thomas Dorman (DR-BENWAY) on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The logo itself was designed by Thomas and the sound design was done by me, Ronnie Belcher. I was also the hand model…

The Regression Poster
A film’s poster is designed to not only capture the essence of the film, but to also convey information. It is said that a poster is the physical incarnation of the film and it can be used in many ways to promote its message.
So when we were brainstorming ideas for the film poster, it was obvious that we had to come up with a look and feel that would set the correct tone for Regression.
Our very talented illustrator, Daniel Hugo, sat with us to discuss how we needed to approach this process. It was important for him to get all the needed information from us. This included the mood, reference images, and stills from the actual film. Taking all of this into consideration, he began making rough sketches and exploring different compositions. Daniel wanted to keep it very graphic and simple, while retaining the dread of the film. He decided to do the close up of our female character’s face and proceeded to make some pencil drawings, focusing on getting her features captured correctly and as realistically as possible.
He then scanned the image and tweaked and highlighted the pencil lines. Then came the colour. Daniel had a general idea that it should be monochromatic with some accents. Ronnie requested a ‘rotten green with some red detail’, which fitted the image like a glove. From there the colour and textures were painted in digitally, arguably the most fun part of the process, according to Daniel.
The final image exceeded our greatest expectations.
